I have never seen one in other cities. Abroad, there is one in Macau. The dogs used for racing are Greyhounds.
These dogs are specially bred for racing. They are slim, well-shaped, with long legs, and run so fast that it’s hard to follow with the naked eye. The Vung Tau racing track is not far from Petro House Hotel. After enjoying the buffet, I walked a short distance to the racing track. On weekends, besides visiting various tourist attractions in Vung Tau, over 1 million tourists per year come to watch the dog races at this venue.
Besides watching, you can also bet and win money if you bet correctly. Mr.hotsia also tried betting and won once, earning some money, but only as a learning experience. This track has been officially licensed since 2001. Vung Tau is the only place in Vietnam and Southeast Asia with such a track, so it’s a must-see if you visit Vung Tau. Plan your visit on Fridays or Saturdays to catch the dog races, which was my first time experiencing.
Important dog racing tracks worldwide are in Australia, Ireland, England, New Zealand, and America. In Asia, there are tracks in Pakistan, Macau, and Vietnam. If you want to watch Greyhound racing, you don’t need to go to Europe; just come to Vietnam. Fly to Ho Chi Minh City, then take a 1.5-hour boat ride to Vung Tau to enjoy the races.
