Kampot Province Bokor Mountain (bokor)

The center of the resort was the Grand Bokor Palace Hotel & Casino. At that time, it had everything including shops, a post office (now dilapidated), a church, and the residence of King Sihanouk. The Bokor mountain range has been abandoned for a long time. This place was also the last stronghold of the Khmer Rouge. Mr.Hotsia thinks it looks similar to our Phu Kradueng but slightly lower. Bokor is 1000 meters high, while Phu Kradueng is about 1200 meters.
From sea level, the ascent is one side a paved road and the other side a cliff. But at Bokor (bokor), there has been a road since the French era. The most special thing is that at the top of this mountain, there is a cliff with a beautiful sea view not far away. In my opinion, Bokor or Phu Bokor is like Phu Kradueng with a sea view and accessible road. Nowadays, tourists like to picnic on top because of the good weather. The top area is now leased by a private company to renovate the casino and build hotels.
3-star and 5-star hotels, hospital, restaurants, golf club, all comprehensive. I saw plans for a cable car too. I think this place has a bright tourism future because it is beautiful, has good weather, and is popular with Cambodian, Chinese, and Western tourists. On top, there is also a temple, waterfall, and the road is almost finished. On the day Mr.Hotsia visited, a large statue called Yai Mao was being built on top of Phu Bokor to protect the area. Yai Mao was built at the first spot we visited, which was King Sihanouk's residence.
When I went, it was not finished yet. I recommend buying a tour from Kampot province. On the day I went, it cost 10 USD per person. The bus left at 8:00 AM to visit Bokor, including lunch and a guide. The price also included a Kampot river cruise to watch the sunset. It was very worthwhile. Mr.Hotsia recommends hotels in Kampot.
