Night Food Stalls Durian Smoothie http://www.hotsia.com > Kampot Province > Night Food Stalls Durian Smoothie Let me recommend some delicious restaurants in Kampot Province so you know where to eat when you visit. The first spot is at the Durian Monument. At night, there is a night market along the road by the river. Most stalls sell rice porridge, snacks, smoothies, and single-dish meals. There are no made-to-order dishes, so no need to look for them. Locals here usually just eat these.

It seems people eat at home first and then come out for a light meal at the night market (the night market near the Durian Monument). The chicken rice porridge is very tasty. On the tables, there are bottles of Kampot black pepper for you to add as you like. Kampot black pepper is very fragrant and delicious. Try it and let me know if you like it. In Khmer, ice is called 'Tuk'. A smoothie is called 'Tuk Khlok'. Here, they blend fruit with egg yolk. If you don't want egg yolk, you must say so, otherwise you'll definitely get it with egg yolk.

Actually, it's not that strange because salad dressings also contain raw egg. Smoothie vendors sell fresh cut fruit with shaved ice on top. The latter type includes egg yolk on top and condensed milk poured over. I have tried this in Phnom Penh. It doesn't taste fishy because egg whites are not added. In Kampot Province, I ordered a durian smoothie at a corner stall near the Durian Monument. No need to add sugar, just durian and a little jackfruit. It's very delicious, especially since Kampot durian is already famous for its fragrance and richness.

Other restaurants I ate at were mostly in my hotel, Kampot Guesthouse. They make very tasty garlic fried pork. Other restaurants are along the Kampot riverbank. There are international cuisines, including Indian food. But if you want to eat Kampot black pepper dishes, go to the night food stalls because their pepper is fresher due to high sales. Overall, food prices in Kampot are slightly cheaper than in Thailand. mr.hotsia January 2012 mr.hotsia recommends hotels in Kampot Enjoy durian smoothies Night food stalls in Kampot Province
