On this trip, I spent two nights in Gangtok, then took a jeep to Namchi and onward to Pelling before returning to Siliguri. Travel time on mountain roads can be a bit slow due to curves and road conditions still under improvement, but the trade-off with Himalayan views and local culture is definitely worth it.
