Margherita is a small town under Tinsukia district in Assam State, India. There is nothing like tourism business here. The town is surrounded by mountains, forest tea gardens, and the Dihing river, but it has a beautiful golf course. The lack of tourism is mainly due to terrorist activities in nearby remote areas. Margherita is famous for coal mining development, which is the largest industry here. Besides that, there is a small plywood industry.
And industries and tea gardens. The best hotel I stayed at in Margherita town is New Hotel Blue Moon. The ground floor is a restaurant, and the upper floor is the hotel. The price is about 300 baht per night. If you want an air-conditioned room, it costs about 400-500 baht. From my exploration, this hotel is the best in town. It is about 1 hour west from the town center. There is a Thai village called Ban Powai Mukh. I rented a car from the hotel owner for a round trip at 700 baht.
In the afternoon of the day I arrived, I went to travel and look for Thai people but only found communication difficulties. I arranged to stay another day and cook food to stay with the locals, but they called to cancel at night due to a Hindu metal worship ceremony. The Thai people here practice Hinduism, so I had to cancel and could not stay at the Thai house in this town.
