Located 480 kilometers from Guwahati and 84 kilometers from Arunachal, the city has both Hindi and Assamese speakers. Assamese is the language spoken in Assam. This city has shopping malls and new buildings under construction. It is a tea city, and also produces oranges, ginger, fruits, and rice. I traveled by bus from Makargaon and stayed mostly at Hotel Center, choosing a centrally located hotel, which turned out to be this hotel in the city center next to the market.
Great location, excellent safety, with restaurants and a shopping mall. In Tinsukia, I strolled along the walking street, visited the market, and enjoyed local food. During three days in this city, I observed many aspects of Assamese life (watch the clip). I stayed here for 3 nights, enough time to gather information about Thai people in this city. I also hired a car through the hotel to visit the Thai village of Phake to search for Thai people. It was my success to find Thai people in India, and I even stayed overnight and cooked meals with the Thai community here.
