Samdruptse was completed in February 2004. There is a helicopter landing pad located 5 km from the city at about 5,000 feet elevation. From here, you get the widest view of the Kanchendzonga mountain along with other adjacent peaks that are part of Darjeeling Kalimpong. I traveled from Gangtok to stay in Namchi for 4 nights, then visited other towns and returned to stay one more night in Namchi before heading back to Siliguri to continue to Assam.
