Travel information for Salavan Province (salavan) is the province I am most familiar with among the 15 special provinces of Laos. Vientiane Capital is the capital city of Laos. Salavan Province is familiar because of the song 'Salavan Tia Long,' an old traditional dance song well known among Thai people. This former city has historical ties with Thailand. Salavan is a province that requires effort to travel to because there are no convenient onward routes. From Pakse to Salavan, continuing to Savannakhet, the roads are poor, so you have to return to Pakse again.
This makes few people travel to Salavan Province. The well-known tourist attraction here is 'Tad Lo Waterfall.' Near Tad Lo Waterfall, there are two more waterfalls: 'Tad Hang Waterfall.' Other attractions are mostly ethnic tourism and less known. The rest of the travel is within the town. Salavan Province has the Sedone River flowing through it. From my travels in several provinces in Laos, I find Salavan has many government offices, including courts, police stations, and others.
It seems to be a central city for these services. For Mr.Hotsia's travel in Salavan Province, I traveled from Sekong, passed Tha Tang, visited Tad Lo Waterfall, then continued to visit Salavan town. In Salavan Province, there are many Vietnamese people like in Sekong and Attapeu. There is a delicious pho restaurant called Nang Taew, which is always crowded. The town looks peaceful and spacious, worth passing through for a visit. Sit and enjoy the view by the Sedone River. Mr.Hotsia, December. Mr.Hotsia recommends hotels in Salavan.
