From Saravan to Seno, Savannakhet http://www.hotsia.com > Travel Saravan > From Saravan to Seno, Savannakhet After traveling in Saravan, I continued my trip to Savannakhet province. I took a VIP bus from Saravan, which departed exactly at 2 PM, passing through Pakse. The route is a bit roundabout. Along the way from Saravan to Pakse, the bus stopped frequently to pick up souvenirs heading to Vientiane. There were many items including rice, fish, food, and other goods for sale.

The journey took several hours to reach Pakse at night, despite the short distance of just a few kilometers. I would strongly advise anyone traveling from Saravan to Pakse not to take a long-distance bus like I did, as the wait is extremely long. It’s better to take a direct Saravan-Pakse bus which is faster and has fewer people carrying goods (called 'khrueang' by the Lao). From Pakse, I continued by bus to Seno. SENO is an acronym from French: N=North, S=South, E=East, and O=West, combined as SENO.
If you head east, you reach the Lao Bao border with Vietnam; if west, you arrive at Savannakhet city (the distance from Seno to Savannakhet is 30 kilometers). Going south leads to Pakse, and going north to Vientiane. This is a Lao person on YouTube. I stayed at Sonchai Hotel in Seno city because I arrived close to 10 PM. The next day, I traveled to Savannakhet to cross the border to Mukdahan. Traveling in Laos requires flexible timing; officials say arrival at 7 PM but actual arrival can be 9:30 or 10 PM, so be prepared to enjoy your trip :)
