It is a large community of the Lue people, also known as Tai Lue when in Thailand. They are an original Tai ethnic group from the Kingdom of Sipsongpanna. It is said that the Lue community here has preserved the traditional Tai Lue culture more than most. In Muang Ngeun, tourists can explore the local houses.

Visitors can admire the Lue architectural art in temples and experience the lifestyle of the Muang Ngeun community at the Nam Ngeun International Checkpoint. Since 2009, when the Huay Kon-Muang Ngeun checkpoint officially opened as an international border crossing, this checkpoint has welcomed travelers from all directions, especially those crossing to visit the World Heritage site of Luang Prabang and other attractions in Xayaburi Province, including Muang Ngeun and Muang Hongsa in Laos.

The area still maintains a simple way of life with ancient temples to visit.
