Ban Pak Ngum Homestay Traveling to Chai Buri, I really liked the evening and morning markets here because I enjoy the local style where goods are sold on piles of banana leaves. Chai Buri is in the forest and mountains, so the items sold are all natural—fresh vegetables, crabs, fish caught from fields and rivers. This makes the market a pleasant place to stroll. At first, I just walked around without buying anything, but the next day, staying at Nok Noi Guesthouse which has a kitchen for self-cooking, I bought wind mushrooms at 80 baht per kilogram to stir-fry and enjoyed them very much.
Visiting other markets, I rarely saw chevrotains often. Once at the Attapru Evening Market, and this time I encountered one fully. I caught it to take a photo; it was still warm. I found it in the afternoon before the evening market started. It must have been placed there shortly before because people quickly bought it whole. Lao people call chevrotains 'E Kai' or 'Kai'. The developed and recommended place to stay in Chai Buri is not near the market. There are accommodations nearby but they are not very clean, so I do not recommend staying there.
Instead, stay near the district administration office, where there is Nok Noi and Chai Anan Hotel.
