Paklay people's food focuses on grilling. What I saw sold roadside included grilled duck, grilled squirrels, grilled pork, sold in abundance. At the evening and morning markets, grilled fish is also common. Next are dishes like steamed or wrapped foods, easy to eat with sticky rice, widely available. I stayed in Paklay only one night, so I might not know deeply. If I return and stay several days, eating with locals, I would know more. Paklay city or Chaiyaburi 110 years ago was part of Thailand, so not much difference, same as the father's generation.
The grandfather's generation were also Thai people. If we don't separate by nationality, we are all siblings, Thai people. When I traveled to Paklay, I ate three meals here: an afternoon trip meal of stir-fried basil with fried egg at a riverside restaurant beside Jinny Guesthouse by the Mekong River; a dark evening meal at a riverside restaurant ordering Thai-style dishes like tom yum and stir-fried ginger; the next morning I ate pho by the roadside.
