The small town called “Dawei” in Tanintharyi Region always creates unique memories for me, especially during the annual temple fair at Shinpin Kyaw Temple, the large central temple in Dawei town, where I witnessed the Burmese Likae or Musical folk drama full of vibrant colors and authentic folk music rhythms.

Dawei is not far from the Thai border. I arrived in Dawei during the Buddhist Lent Festival, when Shinpin Kyaw Temple holds its big annual temple fair. Dawei is a small town but full of warmth and the simple lifestyle of locals.
