This pagoda is clearly visible from the Pathein River. I saw an old painting from 200 years ago. The pagoda is beautifully majestic with two lions guarding the stairway down to the Pathein River, very picturesque.
Today, the pagoda is located beside the market and is a place of worship for Buddhists. Visitors must remove their shoes before climbing. Near the pagoda, there is a statue of a toad and a snake, which is unusual and likely has a story behind it. I visited this pagoda in the morning, sat quietly for a moment before descending and continuing my journey to the riverside village and countryside of Pathein city.
