Backpacking in Kachin State, Myanmar - Fishing at Indawgyi Lake, Myanmar
Fishing at Indawgyi Lake, Myanmar http://www.hotsia.com > Backpacking in Kachin State, Myanmar > Fishing at Indawgyi Lake, Myanmar Travel information for Myitkyina, Bhamo, Putao in Kachin State. Mr. Hotsia recommends hotels in Kachin State, local Kachin cuisine, travel to Myitkyina, the source of the Irrawaddy River (Myitsone), Burmese novice monk ordination (Shinbyu), journey to Indawgyi, lifestyle of the Indawgyi Lake people, and the short film Nong Nene Ae.

Since I started traveling, I have never seen a lake with as many fish as Indawgyi Lake. Here, the focus is on small fish about 5 cm long, caught with nets at the water surface. Larger fish like tilapia, snakehead fish, and some catfish are less common. The villagers use fish traps or nets for fishing. I walked to the lakeshore, observed which boats were about to go fishing, then negotiated with the fishermen to join them and helped cover their fuel costs.
I also asked to join them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and observed their daily life and cooking methods, which allowed me to capture video footage never seen before. However, staying overnight at villagers' homes was strictly prohibited; I had to return to the soldiers' guesthouse. mr.hotsia Enjoy the trip 25°6'10"N, 96°17'21"E GPS coordinates (POI) 25°6'26"N, 96°17'21"E
