Mr. Hotsia recommends hotels in Kachin State, local Kachin cuisine, travel to Myitkyina, the source of the Irrawaddy River (Myitsone), Burmese novice ordination (Shinbyu), journey to Indawgyi, lifestyle of the Indawgyi lake people, and the short film Nong Nene Ae.

They are the same group as the Tai Dam, the original Tai people. The difference lies in traditional clothing: Tai Daeng generally wear dark blue clothes (blue has been the national color of the Tai since ancient times. Wearing dark blue immediately identifies them as Tai, since the Chinese usually wear black and the Vietnamese wear brown). Tai Daeng like to have fabric decorations with lace or red patterns, which is why they are called Tai Daeng. I had the chance to talk with Tai Daeng people in Mandalay who shared information about Kachin State.
In Myanmar, there are 40 Tai Daeng villages with a population of 50,000. Around Indawgyi Lake, many Tai Daeng villages are located in the north and also on the eastern side. Tai Daeng houses are built on stilts like Thai houses, with space underneath for raising ducks and chickens and for rice farming. Tai Daeng daughters cook for their parents, and it seems mothers have an important voice in the household. During this trip, I stayed with several Tai Daeng families, cooked meals, and fully experienced the Tai Daeng way of life. Mr. Hotsia travels with passion, cooking with Tai Daeng women of Indawgyi, Myanmar, and going fishing on Indawgyi Lake.
