Myitkyina Morning Market is one of the most colorful markets. The market is located beside the Irrawaddy River. In the morning, locals bring fish and vegetables by boat to the pier and sell them at this morning market. The shaded area sells goods during the daytime, while the front part of the market operates from very early morning, selling by candlelight as wholesale for motorbike vendors who sell in remote villages around Myitkyina. I like how they sell fermented fish piled high in basins, tightly packed and trimmed into beautiful shapes. I also enjoy the Myitkyina-style fish balls, where fish meat is grated and then pounded into balls before being wrapped in banana leaves or other leaves for sale. Another charm of Myitkyina Morning Market is that all fish displayed on the street are placed on green leaves, which are rare in other cities.
