The first is for those with a passport to apply for a visa.

At the Myanmar Embassy in Bangkok, you can stay in Myanmar for about 1 month. If flying into Kengtung from other cities in Myanmar, you can enter and exit normally. You can also enter by car from Tachileik to Kengtung without a guide. You don't have to hire a guide for 1,000 baht per day. After your passport is stamped by Myanmar, you can hire a trishaw nearby to go to the bus station or van queue. The second case is if you do not have a passport.
Use your national ID card to get a travel pass to Myanmar, which allows a 7-day stay but only in Tachileik. Then prepare three 1-inch photos to report to Myanmar immigration. They will issue three travel passes to Kengtung. This method requires hiring a guide by Myanmar authorities at 1,000 baht per day. You can go in a group, but for large groups, it is recommended to tip the guide. I recommend guide Jai Luang.
Originally, Jai Luang Harry. Jai Luang's phone number is 089-9555059. Jai Luang's son, the guide who took me around, is named Wan Chai, phone 083-7635633. Both are on the Myanmar side and will pick us up at the middle of the bridge. There are three types of transport from Tachileik to Kengtung: a regular bus with two daily trips at 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM, taking 5 hours, costing about 400 baht per person; a van with three daily trips at 9:00 AM, 11:00 AM, and 2:00 PM,
taking 4 hours and costing about 550 baht per person; and finally, a taxi with a fixed fare of 2,500 baht per vehicle, taking just over 3 hours. These are the current average prices as of April 2015. I recommend the bus or van as they are economical and more in touch with the lifestyle of Kengtung people. For getting around Kengtung city, most rent motorcycles at 300 baht per day, with a full tank of fuel included, which is a good deal.
Another option is to hire a motorcycle taxi for sightseeing. Most Thai tourists visit temples, while foreigners prefer to rent motorcycles daily to explore the tribes around Kengtung. If staying in the city center, walking around is also an option. Mr.Hotsia April 2015 welcome to Kengtung Welcome to Kengtung Buses from Mae Sai bus station to Mae Sai city run continuously.
