I wanted to see how the Chin tattooed face people live and what they eat. I stayed in a home with two young children. The Chin mother was very hardworking and skilled, managing both childcare and work. The village has no electricity but uses solar panels in each home to charge mobile phones. Sleeping in the Chin riverside village was mosquito-free and comfortably cool. Bathing was done in the river. Water for the house was carried from the river several hundred meters away, so I was hesitant to use their water.
The bathroom is well-equipped with a flush toilet for tourists. Staying in the tattooed face village homestay lets you observe their cooking, eating, living, and sleeping habits, offering a life experience that helps you reflect and understand life better. I arrived at the village just before dark, bathed in the river, then helped prepare dinner at the local home. Dinner was served around 8 PM. During the night, around 4-5 PM, someone swept under the house, waking me and making it hard to sleep.
In the morning, I walked around the village and had breakfast with the tattooed face Chin villagers before returning the same day and taking a vehicle to Sittwe.
