Salawin fish at Than Phochana restaurant, searching for Sa Nga fish at Mae Sariang market, the most beautiful garden coffee in Thailand, travel to Mae La Noi (Hern Tai), haircut and news hunting in Mae Hong Son, climbing Don Kong Mu Pagoda, Jok Sawoei in Mae Hong Son, sleeping in Sri Saeng Dao cinema in Khun Yuam, Khabong Shan Yai snacks, Khun Yuam - Mae Hong Son viewpoint, returning to Mae Hong Son after 4-5 years, Mae Hong Son remains mostly unchanged unlike Pai district. Along Nong Jong Kham lake, there is a walking street every evening until 9-10 PM.

However, there are not many items, mostly food. On the day I went, it was not early; on weekends, there might be more. I visited the Karen Long Neck village in Ban Nai Soi as well. Not recommended to go as the route is difficult, requiring crossing a weir by car. If not a 4-wheel drive, it is not advisable. Even my pickup truck turned back a few hundred meters before Ban Nai Soi. I called for information and was advised that a sedan could go, but actually it cannot. Ban Nai Soi is about 30 kilometers from Mae Hong Son town. The road is good, but before entering the village, it is not good.

If you want to visit a Karen Long Neck village, go to Ban Huai Suea Thao, which is easier to reach than Ban Nai Soi, and more popular among tourists. But I did not go there. After Ban Nai Soi, I went up to Doi Kong Mu to see the Mae Hong Son city view in the evening. I recommend going in the evening because photos are not backlit. After coming down, I rested for a while and then went out to walk the Mae Hong Son walking street at night. In the morning, I recommend visiting the Mae Hong Son morning market.

You might stop for a quick photo at Nong Jong Kham lake first. In the past, at Mae Hong Son morning market, you could see people dressed in Shan costumes shopping. On the day I went, I did not see that anymore. The charm of Mae Hong Son morning market, in my view, is to eat Shan food in the food zone. I recommend Khao Un or Khao Soi Un, which is like noodles with a yellowish broth, similar to what I ate in Sipaw city, Shan State, Myanmar. Don't forget to try fried Khao Soi too. Delicious and satisfying. Mr.Hotsia Enjoy Traveling October 2015.
