Mae Sariang is a small town by the Yuam River flowing through the city. The busiest area is around Mae Sariang market by the Yuam River, along the river towards the accommodation area.
Since Mae Sariang is a small town, events can be held throughout the town, such as the Ok Wa festival, the end of Buddhist Lent festival, or the Ok Wa Sa festival. However, walking around the whole town would take a lot of time, so I chose to explore Mae Sariang by bicycle. I stayed at Northwest Guesthouse which also offers bicycle rentals. There is no fixed cycling route; anyone can go wherever they want. I recommend the route towards the evening market, stopping by for a short walk.
Then head to the Mae Sariang Museum. After that, go straight towards the PTT gas station, just a little way, then turn left into any alley. Cycle around the town and head down towards the river because that area is less touristy. The houses are beautifully made of wood. Cycle around until you reach the Yuam River bank, then you might cycle towards the bridge crossing the Yuam River. Park and enjoy the view of the Yuam River and the mountains surrounding Mae Sariang. Watch the Yuam River slowly flow through the town. If you still have energy, cross the bridge to the other side where there is a village.
Explore the local culture of Mae Sariang people. Besides culture, there are also beautiful views for photography. Anyone visiting Mae Sariang should try renting a bicycle to ride around the town to feel how joyful it is.
