A trip with Mr.Hotsia to Phetchabun to taste Miang Lao at Phetchabun morning market, Je Som Noodle Shop, coffee and scenic views along Phra Maha Thammaracha route, rappelling at Wang Tum Waterfall, Phu Kaeo Adventure Park, Phu Kaeo Steak with Jaew sauce, and Wichian Buri Grilled Chicken. Wichian Buri grilled chicken is famous all over Thailand, and you can see it sold along many roads.

Curious to try the authentic taste from Wichian Buri district, I came here today. I asked locals which restaurant to try, and many recommended Mr.Hotsia, so I headed straight to Buantong Restaurant. Actually, the original Wichian Buri restaurant's owner, Ta Pae, has passed away. People say the grilled chicken recipes are quite similar across shops here. For me, though, I think the roadside stalls grilling fresh, hot chicken are better because delicious grilled chicken must be hot and freshly cooked.
If grilled chicken is prepared in advance, it becomes dry and loses much of its juiciness and flavor. However, other dishes here are quite good. The sticky rice is wrapped in banana leaves, keeping it moist and soft. The larb is tasty, and the Lao-style papaya salad is good. The crispy chicken skin salad was a bit too salty. For those who come specifically for Wichian Buri grilled chicken, I recommend eating at stalls grilling fresh, hot chicken only. Otherwise, you might not like it as I did. The brand of grilled chicken is less important than it being freshly grilled and hot. Mr.Hotsia enjoys Wichian Buri grilled chicken at Buantong Restaurant.
