Besides visiting Phu Thap Boek and Khao Kho, I also spent one night in Phetchabun to visit the night market at the city pond, to get to know how the people of Phetchabun live. In the morning, locals come out to shop at the morning market. I walked past the Khao Sai clock tower to the market and strolled around. Here, I tried Miang Pak Kad, a dish I had never tasted before. It tastes like regular Miang but wrapped in lettuce, which is delicious in a different way. In the open-air market zone, locals brought vegetables to sell.
We chatted in slightly accented Central Thai. Usually, I walk through markets in Laos, the North, and Isan, where the accents are clear by region, but today the accent was Central Thai, giving a different charm to the market walk.
