Highway No. 12 (Mae Sot - Mukdahan) is an important transportation route connecting Northern and Northeastern Thailand. The government also plans it as one of the strategic routes of the East-West Economic Corridor connecting Moulmein, Myanmar and Da Nang, Vietnam. Additionally, this highway is considered part of the Asian Highway Network.
On this route, between Phitsanulok and Phetchabun, about 10 kilometers before the Khaem Son junction, on the left side there is a coffee shop called Route 12 with one of the most beautiful views. At least on the route I have traveled from Mukdahan to Da Nang, except for Rango city, I have not seen any view as beautiful as here. So if you pass this route, you should stop to enjoy coffee and the view first, because in traveling, don't let time pass too quickly. They have coffee, souvenirs, and also accommodations.
But there are only a few rooms, so it's more suitable for a stopover than a stay. This shop is one of my favorites. I like the view, the atmosphere, and the idea behind the shop's name. If the person who named the shop reads this, please know that Mr.Hotsia is one who admires it.
