As Prime Minister, he developed Phetchabun with most orders issued by the Prime Minister's Office, starting in 1943. A metropolitan plan for Phetchabun was created, with the Department of Municipal Engineering designing a master plan including a main city plan and satellite towns. However, the Metropolitan Administration Act of Phetchabun B.E. 2485 (1942) was not approved by the House of Representatives, causing the act to be discarded.

Few people know that Phetchabun province was once the capital city of Thailand. Today, Phetchabun offers nationally famous tourist attractions such as Nam Nao, Nam Khek rafting, and the Hmong village of Ban Khek Noi. Besides these out-of-town attractions, the city of Phetchabun has temples, a central pond, and delicious food like Je Som's noodle shop, known as the best in the province. It also features the world's largest Great Phra Maha Thammaracha statue.

Ancient Loem Khao rice noodles can only be found in this province. There are two routes to travel to Phetchabun. The first route from Bangkok uses Highway 1 to Saraburi province, continuing to Phu Khae junction at kilometer 125, then turning right onto Highway 21 passing Chai Badan, Si Thep, and Wichian Buri districts for about 221 kilometers to Phetchabun province. The total distance is approximately 346 kilometers, taking about 5 hours.

The second route from Bangkok uses Highway 1 (Phahonyothin Road) to Wang Noi district, then turns onto Highway 32 passing Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, Ang Thong, Sing Buri, Chai Nat, entering Nakhon Sawan, then uses Highway 117 straight to Phitsanulok province. From there, take Highway 12 (Phitsanulok-Lom Sak) passing Khao Kho-Lom Sak to Phetchabun province. The total distance allows tourists to choose a circular route by going via route 1 and returning to Bangkok via route 2.

Hotels and accommodations in Phetchabun include Khosit Hill Hotel in the city, which recently closed but was clean and comfortable; Mr.Hotsia stayed here. At Khao Kho, there are many accommodations at various price levels, including popular hotels like Imperial Phu Khaew Hill Resort. Advance booking is recommended during long holidays or winter. Lom Sak has several hotels as it is a transit point. Lom Kao has fewer hotels; tourists usually come to eat Loem Khao rice noodles and then move on.

Phetchabun province has a central pond surrounded by popular nighttime attractions for locals. Around the central pond, there are two grilled pork restaurants. For late-night food, visit Phetchabun night market, which offers many delicious dishes. Enjoy your trip to Phetchabun! Mr.Hotsia October 2011.
