Pine Tree Road to the Beauty of Omkoi: A Route mr.hotsia Must Recommend
When talking about pine trees along the road, many might think of pine parks by the sea in Rayong, Chonburi, or even Phetchaburi. But for me, mr.hotsia, the Pine Tree Road leading to Omkoi District, Chiang Mai Province, has a truly unique and outstanding charm. This route is not just an ordinary road but a beautiful scene of pine forests lining both sides, too stunning to overlook.
Starting from the junction on the main road entering Omkoi District, the over 30-kilometer route is filled with pine plantations and natural pine forests nestled at an altitude of over 700 meters above sea level. These pines include both planted and natural forests mixed with red forest or dipterocarp forest. Both sides of the road are full of two-needle and three-needle pines that you rarely find elsewhere.
I, mr.hotsia, drove along this route with great enjoyment, rolling down the windows to let the cool breeze and the fragrant scent of pine trees fill the car. It’s a feeling you can’t find on other roads. Imagine driving through rows of pine trees stretching as far as the eye can see. The mountain views and morning mist combined with the natural scent make the journey to Omkoi more meaningful than just reaching the destination.
Along the way, I also met hill tribe people living in the area. Sometimes they would wave to ask for a ride, and I secretly helped them get in. It was a warm feeling and a real experience of the mountain people's way of life, as if we became part of a small community nestled within the vast pine forest.
For those interested in temples, when you reach Omkoi, don’t forget to stop byWat Saen ThongAn important temple I just got to know on this trip. The Phra Chao Saen Thong here is a Chiang Saen era Buddha image highly revered by locals. I also took photos of the wooden bridge crossing a small river before entering to pay respects to Phra Chao Saen Thong at this temple. The peaceful atmosphere and hidden history make me want to recommend everyone to experience it themselves.
This Pine Tree Road is not just a passage but a route that takes you through diverse landscapes and cultures, connecting with fascinating stories of Chiang Mai Province with its deep natural and cultural diversity, close to places I have visited before.Doi Tao Lake Ruinsor take a stroll to enjoy the view atOb LuangAlthough on a different route, these places also showcase the beautiful nature of Northern Thailand.
In summary, my impression, mr.hotsia, is that the Pine Tree Road to Omkoi is perfect for those who enjoy slow travel, rolling down the windows to enjoy the view, listening to nature’s sounds, and truly experiencing the hill tribe lifestyle. The pine plantations lining both sides for over 30 kilometers is a rare sight in Thailand, and it makes me feel that Chiang Mai still has many hidden corners waiting for us to discover.
If you plan to visit Chiang Mai, don’t forget to try this route. You’ll realize that traveling is not just about reaching the destination but about experiencing and enjoying every kilometer along the way with mr.hotsia.
