Crab Fried Rice Ratchaburi: A delicious must-try from the heart of mr.hotsia

When talking about Ratchaburi, many think of Suan Phueng, sea of mist, or even Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. I, mr.hotsia, have traveled to stay at Amphawa Floating Market and stopped by Suan Phueng, both places having their own unique charm. But this time, I want to share my personal experience withCrab Fried Rice Ratchaburia local dish I discovered that Ratchaburi truly excels at just like anywhere else.

After checking in at Arya Hotel in downtown Ratchaburi, an old hotel established since 1975, affordable and with Wi-Fi, I went for an evening walk along the Mae Klong River flowing through the heart of Ratchaburi city. The riverside atmosphere at sunset was so beautiful it reminded me of the river’s origin in Umphang District, Tak Province. This connection to the Mae Klong River made me feel like I truly experienced the lifestyle of the people in Ratchaburi.

The Beginning of Crab Fried Rice Ratchaburi

I had heard of the reputation of Ratchaburi’s crab fried rice for a long time, but this time I had the chance to try it for real at a small roadside restaurant in the city. The taste was distinctly different from elsewhere. The rice used was fluffy and not mushy, stir-fried over high heat until fragrant with the aroma of the pan, mixed with fresh sweet crab meat in large chunks, full of flavor. I, mr.hotsia, felt the meticulous care in cooking from the very first bite. The flavor was balanced and didn’t need much additional seasoning. It was a taste I can confidently say is the “real deal” of authentic Ratchaburi.

While eating, I pictured the lifestyle of the locals here, who still preserve traditional eating culture very well, similar to when I experienced a Thai-style homestay by the Mae Klong River at Ban Pong (Thai-Style Homestay by the Mae Klong River, Ban Pong), another place I was impressed by for its atmosphere and local food. Here, you can truly experience the old charm of traditional Thai houses and the riverside community way of life.

Crab Fried Rice with Community Lifestyle and Travel in Ratchaburi

Traveling in Ratchaburi is easy if you have a private car. I, mr.hotsia, chose to stay at Amphawa Floating Market and spent the next day traveling to Suan Phueng. The trip from downtown Ratchaburi to Suan Phueng took just over an hour. The roads were good, allowing me to comfortably plan visits to various places.

On the way back from Suan Phueng, I stopped to get some roadside food and didn’t miss the chance to try crab fried rice again because I wanted to compare how the flavors differ among restaurants in Ratchaburi. Some places used a lot of eggs, others focused on herbal seasonings. The fragrant aroma of the pan was the highlight that made this dish even more memorable.
