You decide for yourself. I don't want to say the taste beforehand. Chorakhe Han, Ratchaburi—delicious or not, it's up to your preference.
When talking about Ratchaburi, many might think of Suan Phueng filled with nature or the bustling Damnoen Saduak Floating Market. But for me, mr.hotsia, Ratchaburi has much more to offer, especially in terms of food. Sometimes I don’t say it has to be extremely delicious, but “you decide for yourself” is the phrase I like to use when describing the taste here. For example, “Chorakhe Han” in Chorakhe Han District, Ratchaburi Province, which I have tried myself and want to share honestly.
Chorakhe Han is a small district not very famous for general tourism, but if you like local food or want to try something different, Chorakhe Han is worth a visit. There are various local eateries here, including chicken rice, stewed pork leg rice, and what I never miss is “Chorakhe Han” itself—not referring to the reptile, but the name of the subdistrict and a unique dish, especially grilled pork or chicken with crispy skin and rich, home-style flavors.
I remember the first time I, mr.hotsia, arrived at the market in Chorakhe Han district. The rustic atmosphere, people chatting, and the aroma of grilled food filled the market. I chose a small shop recommended by the owner who said, “You decide for yourself if you like it.” So I ordered grilled pork and sticky rice to eat together. The taste was as I said—not fancy like a high-end restaurant but with the perfect balance of spices and crispy pork skin. Some might love it, some might be indifferent, but for me, it’s the authentic taste of Ratchaburi that you won’t find elsewhere.
Getting to Chorakhe Han is easy because it’s not far from Ratchaburi town. You can drive from Amphawa Floating Market or Suan Phueng and stop by to try the food here comfortably. If you want to learn more about other attractions in Ratchaburi Province, I recommend reading my article.Ratchaburi Travel Informationthat I wrote earlier. It will help you plan your trip better.
Speaking of Ratchaburi, another spot I want to recommend is experiencing life along the Mae Klong River, especially in Ban Pong District, where there is a traditional Thai-style homestay called “Khum Thanthima.” I had the chance to stay there. The atmosphere is wonderful, riverside, with well-preserved traditional Thai wooden houses. It’s perfect for those who want to relax peacefully amid nature. The homestay also offers a warm, authentic local experience. If interested, check out my article.Traditional Thai-Style Homestay by Mae Klong River, Ban Pongthat I have written.
Back to food, if you like crab fried rice, Ratchaburi is a place you shouldn’t miss. The crab fried rice here has a mild, balanced flavor—not too sweet or salty. The fresh, firm crab meat paired with fresh vegetables sold in local markets enhances the taste. If you appreciate fresh ingredients, I recommend visiting Amphawa Floating Market in the morning once, where you can truly see the lifestyle of locals along the Mae Klong River and enjoy fresh seafood and many local dishes.Crab Fried Rice, Ratchaburiis one of the dishes I highly recommend.
When talking about Ratchaburi’s highlights, you can’t miss “Suan Phueng,” which many know well. But for me, mr.hotsia, visiting Suan Phueng is not just about sheep or the Flintstones Stone Man. Suan Phueng is a perfect getaway for nature lovers wanting to escape the city’s hustle. The place is full of beautiful resorts, cozy coffee shops, and outdoor activities that let you truly breathe fresh air. Read more details and see photos of Suan Phueng in my article.Suan Phueng, Ratchaburithat I have documented.
For traveling in Ratchaburi, I, mr.hotsia, usually plan a relaxed trip without rushing. For example, starting from Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, Tha Ka Floating Market, then staying overnight at Amphawa Floating Market. The next morning, drive to visit Suan Phueng or Chorakhe Han before heading back to Bangkok without too much fatigue. The routes I drive through are beautiful, with stunning views along the Mae Klong River, plus opportunities to visit local spots and taste delicious food along the way.Road to Suan Phueng, Ratchaburiis a route I recommend you try driving yourself.
In summary, if you’re looking for a destination near Bangkok with nature, local lifestyle, and local food to try, “Chorakhe Han” in Ratchaburi is a place I, mr.hotsia, want you to try and decide for yourself whether you like it or not. Because sometimes the taste of food depends on personal preference. But what I’m sure of is that you will experience a unique rustic atmosphere and a new travel experience for sure.
