Mui Ne Fisherman Village: An in-depth look at the coastal lifestyle of southern Vietnam

As mr.hotsia, who travels extensively to share real stories from global travel scenes, Mui Ne Fisherman Village is one of the most memorable stops for me. Experiencing the simple and authentic life of Vietnamese fishermen here is unforgettable. Located on the coast in Bình Thuận Province, Phan Thiet City, this coastal province enjoys almost year-round sunshine and beaches that remain clean and pristine.

I traveled to Mui Ne by The Sinh Tourist bus at an affordable price of only 7 USD, about 210 THB, taking approximately 4 hours. The tour departed at 1:30 PM. The first stop was this fisherman village. The atmosphere was quite peaceful with a small bay for colorful fishing boats. For photography enthusiasts, this spot offers beautiful photo opportunities especially in the morning or evening. When mr.hotsia visited, the sunlight was not ideal, so the photos were less sharp than hoped.

Since this village has not been heavily developed for tourism, it truly reflects the natural life of fishermen. There is a small market selling fresh seafood at prices much cheaper than tourist areas. Locals sell fresh shrimp, crab, and squid. There are also seaside seafood restaurants where you can relax and dine. I recommend renting a taxi or motorbike to come here in the morning or evening to enjoy better light and atmosphere, then arrange a ride back without needing to walk.

Mui Ne’s attractions are not limited to the fisherman village but also include the famousMui Ne Desertwhich features both white and red sand dunes. I have explored the vast desert area of over 500 square kilometers filled with colorful sand hills and scattered grass patches. This combination gives Mui Ne a unique charm with its coastal lifestyle and distinctive landscape.

Back at the fisherman village, I tasted fresh seafood dishes, especially the seafood fried rice with shrimp, crab, and various fish topped with a fried egg at a wallet-friendly price. Compared to prices in other Vietnamese tourist cities, this place offers great value. Besides delicious food, you also experience a village that preserves its traditional way of life well.

During my visit, I saw fishermen preparing boats and equipment for the next day’s sea trip. These scenes reminded me of the hard work and deep connection to the sea that defines their lifestyle. This is the charm of Mui Ne Fisherman Village that travelers should not miss when visiting Bình Thuận Province.

For travelers planning a self-guided trip to Mui Ne, I recommend taking a bus from Ho Chi Minh City to Mui Ne, then visiting the desert and stopping by the fisherman village to experience local life and fresh seafood. Lastly, plan your time wisely as the best light for photography and seafood dining is in the morning or evening. Finally, Mui Ne Fisherman Village is not just a rest stop but a small gateway to learning and experiencing the true coastal life of Vietnamese villagers. I, mr.hotsia, hope this experience helps everyone gain a vivid image and good memories from this journey.
