Light fog, many tourists, almost all accommodations fully booked. Tourists walk around the backpacker zone and the church area is crowded. I went back to visit the elderly Thai mother who looks much older now and doesn’t remember me. I left her some money. The Thai valley has become a tourist spot with many homestays. The cost is per person, meals are charged per meal, but it’s hot during the day. If you want to visit, arrive in the evening and leave in the morning. Still impressed by the salmon grilled with herbs, delicious and satisfying. This trip did not go to the waterfall or hill tribe houses, only to Ban Ho, a Thai village where they speak a little Thai. Stayed one night at a homestay with internet available at the shop. The weather was cool and comfortable.
I’m also impressed by the car I hired to take me down to Lao Cai. The driver was extremely fast, overtaking on curves and eating lanes, but drove very safely.
