Traveling Sapa, Traveling Vietnam, Tai (Thai) People in Sapa

It was something I did not know before that in Sapa there are people who speak Thai and understand each other. Previously, when I went to Dien Bien Phu, I met the Black Thai people there, which was already amazing. When I arrived in Sapa, I saw on the map the word "TAY" which probably means Tai or Thai people. So I decided to rent a motorcycle to find this village and succeeded in discovering the Tai valley in Sapa. It was very exciting for me once again.

The Tai people in Sapa are different from the Black Thai in Dien Bien Phu. In Sapa, they do not have high hair buns nor wear black pants. Therefore, the Thai in Sapa are not the Lao Song like in our home, but I think they are Thai people who migrated from the same source as the Thai people who migrated to Thailand because they use the same language and make omelets the same way. The Thai people here worship the house spirit, similar to my home in Bang Bo where we also worship the traditional house spirit.

The language used, if it is the original ancient words, is the same but the tone changes from the original tone to the third tone, for example, the Tai grandfather here calls "ปู๊" (Pu) and the word for chicken is "ไก๊" (Kai). This allows communication and understanding. I discovered the Tai people in this valley and felt very excited. I wanted to know how the Tai people here live, so I bought food for them to cook. What I liked was the omelet here which is very similar to our home style, fragrant and delicious in the style of Thai or Tai omelet.

I went to look around the Tai houses. They have granaries to store unhusked rice to eat all year round, similar to the granaries I used in my childhood. All the household tools used in the past appear in this Tai village in Sapa, making me feel like I traveled back in time to old Thailand. The rice fields with buffaloes plowing and other scenes make it a clear time travel experience for those who want to travel like Mr.Hotsia. I have put the map here. The Tai people live in the village.

I assume the word BAN means house. Ban Ho village is about 30 kilometers southeast of Sapa town. You can rent a motorcycle to go or stay overnight here. However, the accommodation information is still confusing because the hotel owner said that if you want to stay, you must have a guide; otherwise, if the Vietnamese police find you, there will be problems. Staying and eating with the Thai villagers costs 140 baht per night per person. I am not sure if this price includes food; I need to check again.

From talking with the Tai people here, they said some Thai people have visited and stayed here before, including children from Ban Ho village. The Tai people are worth visiting, staying overnight, and chatting with. It is a true time travel with everything original. When traveling to Sapa, besides seeing the terraced rice fields, come here as well. It is something Thai people must not miss. The fabric is like the rough cloth my father wore when farming as a child. The way to light fire like the Tai people: the kitchen roof is a granary; the smoke drives away moths and insects from eating the rice and garlic above. This person is Pu or grandfather Kien; the Tai people here have lived here for a very long time. The Tai-style omelet is delicious like our home omelet. Here, chicken eggs are called "ไข๊ไก๊" (Kai Kai).

Spicy stir-fried pork is very delicious. Pork is called "มู๊" (Mu) by the Tai people. The house of the Tai (Thai) people in the valley in Sapa town, northern Vietnam.
