I walked to the market and ate a bowl of noodles first. Then I saw someone order a strange dessert, so I ordered it to try immediately.
This dessert uses fresh fruits like banana, carrot, jackfruit, and also durian and grapes that are fermented first, then combined with fresh fruits. Crushed ice is added and pressed in the center to make a hollow. Syrup is poured over the ice, then the egg white is washed away and only the egg yolk is placed on top. Sweetened condensed milk is poured around to finish the preparation. From my tasting, the egg yolk has no unpleasant smell and is delicious. However, I did not like the fermented grapes and durian because they were sour and not tasty.
But everything else is edible. This shop is located beside Phnom Penh fresh market by the riverside on the road. Mr.Hotsia December 2011. On my recent trips to Cambodia, I have encountered similar shops in various provinces but not many. I feel happy to have tried this type of food once in my life.
