Then buy your bus ticket from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh. You can purchase it directly from your hotel. They operate on a commission system, making ticket and tour purchases very convenient. The route to Phnom Penh passes through Kampong Thom, a northern province of Cambodia. It is a rural area where oxen still pull carts. The houses are beautiful. On my second, third, and fourth visits to Phnom Penh, I entered via Vietnam, via Poipet to Phnom Penh, and from Sihanoukville, which made for great trips.

For bus travel in Cambodia, I recommend Soraya Company. Remember the name when booking to get quality buses and continuous customer service. I suggest traveling in the afternoon, sitting on the left side where the sun doesn’t shine, and enjoy the beautiful views of horse carts, ox carts, and old houses. I think it’s amazing. There are 4 daily trips from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh. The last trip departs at 12:30 PM. The journey takes 6 hours with a lunch stop around 4:30 PM, arriving in Phnom Penh around 7 PM. The bus stops not far from the accommodation zone, and a tuk-tuk ride costs about 40 baht.

I definitely plan to return to visit Kampong Thom again. I love this style. Mr.Hotsia’s clip shows the bus crossing the Mekong River before reaching Phnom Penh.
