Mostly Thai tourists visit here due to shared history.
The palace and throne hall are designed specifically for tourists. I entered a quiet, empty atmosphere with a strong bat guano smell. Inside, I saw two young Burmese couples from Pyay sitting and chatting intimately. In Myanmar, it is normal for young couples to meet in temples or parks, though Thai people might find it unusual. Overall, I think Bayinnaung Palace is good for taking photos to prove you’ve been there. The interesting parts are the side buildings.
The actual Bayinnaung Palace site has wooden structures with historical information. I walked around but couldn’t read the English descriptions. Then I took a car to see another palace but didn’t get off. It rained today, so I just drove around to take some photos and clips before heading into town to eat local Pyay food.
