Mawlamyine Morning Market The Mawlamyine morning market is located in the main market area of Mawlamyine. There you will find the day market, fresh market, and it is also a bus terminal to other cities. Although the city is next to the Salween River, there aren’t as many fish as in Mae Sariang morning market, possibly because it is near the river’s mouth before it flows into the sea. This market mainly features large shrimp. You can walk there from your accommodation without needing to hire a motorcycle.
On the way back, I kept buying things to bring home. It’s a short walk back to The Breeze Guesthouse. At the morning market, Mon people come to sell goods. The Mon language has many words similar to Thai, and many words are spoken the same way. The market has shops selling Burmese and Mon food and snacks. In front of the market, there is a Burmese-style coffee shop where the coffee brewed is white in color. It’s convenient for visiting Kyaikhtiyo Pagoda. Attram Hotel is near the bridge to Mottama with a beautiful river view, right next to the Mawlamyine morning market.
