An island in the middle of the Salween River - Sacred Water Pond. This island is located in the middle of the Salween River. It is a small island. If you cross the bridge to Mottama, you will see it on the right side. There is no bridge to this island; you must take a boat, which is not expensive, just a few tens of baht. This island is where the local queen used to wash her hair and received only good things into her life. The motorbike driver who took me there said that the Thai queen and King Rama V also visited. They have pictures displayed. I do not know if this is true or not.
There is a sacred water pond said to be guarded by a Naga serpent. The water from this sacred pond, when used to wash hair, is believed to bring good luck and prosperity. The pond is locked, but next to it, there is an opening to scoop water for use. I scooped water into my hands as advised by the guide and poured it over my head—not fully washing my hair, just wetting it all over. I prayed for happiness forever. From now on, I wish happiness and prosperity for myself and my entire family forever. On the island, there is a pavilion for resting and a Thai-style Buddha statue for worship. A nun takes care of the place.
They keep four or five small dogs that can open the door by themselves. There is also a picture of a female Naga who guards the sacred water pond, so don't forget to see it. If no one takes you, you might not find the pond. Try contacting The Breeze guest house to arrange a guide who knows the place. You might rent a motorbike for 300 baht per day to explore Mudon town here and ask the nun who takes care of the place yourself. This is another way. mr.hotsia October 27, 2013
