Shampoo Mawlamyine: Shampoo and Head Massage in Mawlamyine During the last two days in Mawlamyine, I didn’t have enough money to travel far, so I strolled around the city, got a Mon-style massage, then walked back to my accommodation. On the way back, I stopped to eat freshly steamed sarapao from an old roadside shop. Then I had a Mawlamyine-style shampoo. Here, they give a strong head and neck massage, very effective but not as deep as the one I had in Naypyidaw. Still, it was very relaxing. After the massage, I also got a haircut at a new, clean shop I noticed.
So I decided to try their service. No one in the shop spoke English or Thai, only Burmese, so we communicated with gestures throughout, but it was a fun experience. The haircut cost 30 baht, and the shampoo and head massage cost 45 baht. I paid a total of 75 baht. It was worth it—I got a great look and a unique experience abroad.
