One activity I highly recommend when visiting Mrauk U in Rakhine State, Myanmar, is to wake up early and watch the sunrise from the viewpoint. You can see the town of Mrauk U with smoke rising in clusters from cooking fires and pagodas lined up along the hills. Although the pagodas here are not as magnificent as those in Bagan or Pugam, the atmosphere of this ancient city is truly wonderful.
To get to the sunrise viewpoint, ask the hotel staff and hire a motorcycle taxi to take you there. You can then walk up by yourself. Don't forget to bring a flashlight. Mr.Hotsia Travel Excitement, March 2016.
