Here, the morning market has a large variety of sea fish. They bring sea fish piled on the ground and auction them competitively. Whoever wins immediately carries the fish away in baskets. This fish auction market was my first time seeing such strange-looking fish, including stingrays piled for auction. The colorful morning market of Sittwe is vibrant. Besides the fish auction, the image of porters carrying loads and people waving on the street is a memorable scene for me.
Inside the Sittwe morning market, observe the salted fish stalls. They prepare salted fish in a unique way by slicing the fish into strips, stuffing something inside the belly, drying it, then removing the stuffing to create a shape resembling a demon fish. The hollow-eyed fish strips look very unusual. They hang and sell these at the morning market, a must-see for visitors.
