Vietnam Dien Bien Phu

Dien Bien Phu Travel Dien Bien Phu Tours Book Hotels in Dien Bien Phu Travel Dien Bien Phu Khua Ma City Dien Bien Phu Black Thai People Dien Bien Phu to Sapa Son La Dien Bien Phu Recommended Good and Affordable Hotels in Dien Bien Phu Dien Bien Phu is a city well known among Thai people for its historic battlefield. There was a famous Thai movie called "Escape from Dien Bien Phu Hell Camp" that I watched before. Nowadays, Dien Bien Phu is an important route for traveling from Thailand to Northern Vietnam.

Sapa Dien Bien Phu also has a large population of Black Thai people. The houses I passed were all Thai-speaking and understandable. When visiting Dien Bien Phu, you won't go hungry; you can ask for food and water. To travel to Dien Bien Phu from Thailand, use the border crossing at Chiang Khong, Chiang Rai Province, then cross to Huay Sai, Bo Keo Province. From Huay Sai, take a car to Muang Chai, Oudomxay Province (4 hours). Stay one night in Muang Chai. Accommodation is next to the bus station, 200 baht per night.

The next day, take the 8:00 AM bus from Oudomxay to Muang Khua (4 hours). Stay one night in Muang Khua. At 6:00 AM the following day, there is a bus to Dien Bien Phu, arriving in the afternoon (7 hours). For more information on cities, accommodations, and attractions, I have provided details. In Dien Bien Phu, there are many hotels and guesthouses. You can book accommodation in Vietnam or walk in. Prices range from 300-500 baht per night, with air conditioning and Wi-Fi.

Mosquito nets are provided, but I have stayed in Dien Bien Phu several times and never saw a single mosquito. In summary, accommodation in Dien Bien Phu is affordable and usually available without advance booking, unless you want peace of mind. Regarding food, Dien Bien Phu has many pho restaurants and several rice with dishes shops. Pho costs about 40 baht per bowl. Rice dishes are charged per person. There are a few made-to-order dishes costing around 80 baht per person (at the border crossing, food costs 120 baht per person).

I think food prices in Dien Bien Phu are higher compared to Thailand. Compared to Hue and Hoi An, Thai food prices are higher. For beer lovers, "Hanoi Beer" is available here in small bottles, selling for 30 baht or 15,000 dong per bottle. As for tourist attractions in Dien Bien Phu, the first recommendation from Mr.Hotsia is the Black Thai Market.

Dien Bien Phu has two markets. The riverside market has more Black Thai people. When visiting Dien Bien Phu, try to communicate with fellow Thai people (Black Thai) because it makes you feel that there are Thai people in other countries too. Another attraction is the high hills that were battlefields where Northern Vietnam fought the French (see the GPS coordinates above the photo). There are tank craters, tunnels used to transport disassembled artillery to the hilltops.

Besides exploring the history shown in the movie "Escape from Dien Bien Phu Hell Camp," you can also enjoy beautiful views of Dien Bien Phu from above. The hilltop is just a few steps away... Black Thai woman I met at the barber shop, then we went together to visit the Dien Bien Phu battlefield. At barber shops in Vietnam, they also give you a facial massage, which I really like.
