Hoi An Travel Guide to Hoi An

My journey to Hoi An started from Mukdahan, crossing to Laos at Savannakhet. From Savannakhet, there are regular buses from the international bus station to Hue, or from the Savannakhet Ban He shop there are also buses to Hue but they run every other day. For more travel information, see the border crossing to visit Hue by clicking here. From Hue, there are two options to travel to Hoi An: the first is by car which is faster and similarly priced; the second is by train from Hue passing through Lang Co.

Then take a bus from Da Nang to Hoi An, or a private car which is not expensive. In Vietnam, transportation, food, and accommodation are all affordable. Mr.Hotsia traveled by train from Hue, passing through Lang Co city with beautiful views. Along the way, before reaching Da Nang, the left side faces the sea continuously. The train runs along the coastline almost all the way to Da Nang. From Da Nang, I took a private car to Hoi An because I met two foreign friends and we shared the ride, making it much cheaper. For the return trip from Hoi An to Hue or Savannakhet,

In Vientiane, there are buses running continuously. These are sleeper buses with transfers, sometimes resting overnight in Hue before continuing to Laos the next day. Or you can take a short bus ride to get off at Hue first, then continue by yourself to Savannakhet in Laos or Vientiane. Tickets for all travel within Vietnam can be purchased at the hotel where you stay. This is the system in Vietnam. We can buy everything, and even if something is not normally sold, they will still sell it to us.

Vietnam is amazing. The charm of traveling by bus from Hue to Hoi An and back is passing through the longest mountain tunnel in Southeast Asia called the Hai Van tunnel. I recorded clips throughout the time the bus passed under the tunnel to share with you. Recommended hotels in Hoi An. Video of the train view from Hue to Da Nang. The route from Da Nang to Hoi An.
